The Oklahoma-based band Turnpike Troubadours are premiering their new song “Old Time Feeling (Like Before)” exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play below to listen.

A high-octane band known for selling out venues in Texas, Oklahoma, and beyond, the Turnpike Troubadours are preparing to release their latest studio album, A Long Way From Your Heart, on which “Old Time Feeling (Like Before)” appears. The song is a quieter turn for the band, which is known for barn-burners and ridiculously energetic live shows.

“Well, I’m the same old me you know / F–kin’ up the status quo / Trouble all the way up to my neck,” sings frontman Evan Felker ahead of the chorus of “Old Time Feeling (Like Before).” “And I can keep it cool and new / Until you catch me half past two / Just about that time, and I’m a wreck.”

A Long Way From Your Heart will be the Turnpike Troubadours’ fourth studio album. The record takes a close look at the importance of resilience and sticking it out — qualities that always seems to rise to the top in tough times. It’s impossible to pin the Troubadours into one specific genre — they blend red dirt country, Southern rock, classic folk and roots-y rock, offering a sound that is uniquely their own — and on the new record, producer Ryan Hewitt (the Lumineers, the Avett Brothers) brings those influences together into a beautifully cohesive evolution of the band’s fiercely independent sound.

A Long Way From Your Heart is set for release on Oct. 20. Visit to learn more about the band, their new album and their upcoming tour dates.
