Tucker Beathard Taking Notes From Tour Boss Dierks Bentley on Summer Tour

Tucker Beathard recently released his debut single, "Rock On," but he hasn't had much time to work on his freshman album lately. He's been too busy touring with Dierks Bentley, serving as an opening act on Bentley's Somewhere on a Beach Tour.

"It’s awesome," Beathard tells The Boot. "It’s a great group of people out there with us: Cam, Randy [Houser] and Dierks, they’re great people. I’m really fortunate to be able to tag along."

The 22-year-old is taking plenty of notes from his tour boss, spending his summer learning the ins and outs of life on the road.

"I think the best thing I'm learning from Dierks is how he treats his crew," Beathard explains, echoing the sentiments of past Bentley tour openers. "He’s really humble. He’s a guy that everybody wants to work for, that’s a likable guy. He knows how to run his business, and that’s something that’s really important."

The rising country artist admits that there was a bit of a learning curve to playing in the tour's large venues; he "[got] a little jittery" at first, "but after the first week," Beathard says, "you just decide it’s fun."

And as for that debut disc, Beathard is working on it whenever he has time.

"I think every song has got a message behind it and has a lot of meaning to it. Sonically, it’s definitely going to be more of an edgier rock side," he notes. "Ultimately, it just sums up me and everything about me. It will be good to let out the whole album and really express myself in a broader way."

Beathard, the son of songwriter Casey Beathard, admits that he "never really got into songwriting thinking I want to be a famous star."

"I just got into it because, naturally, it’s my way to vent, like therapy for me," he adds. "The only way to speak for myself and express myself is with something I wrote."
