Montgomery Gentry‘s Troy Gentry is mourning the loss of his brother, Keith, who passed away over the weekend.

“I’d like to thank you all so much for your outpouring of thoughts and prayers,” he writes on the band’s Facebook page. “We appreciate your kindness and respect of our family time as we grieve the loss of my brother Keith.”

Gentry’s spokesperson adds that any condolences posted on the page will be passed on directly to him.

Details regarding his brother’s death have not been made available. Montgomery Gentry closed out the Headwaters Country Jam in Cardwell, Mont. on Saturday night (June 28). According to online postings, that was the day Gentry’s brother passed away. Keith Gentry’s death appears to have been sudden and unexpected.

Montgomery Gentry’s management requests that the family’s privacy be respected at this time.

The Boot extends our deepest condolences to Troy Gentry and his family.
