Tracy Lawrence Charged With Disorderly Conduct After Fight

Sticks and Stones‘ may not break Tracy Lawrence‘s bones, but a fight after a show might. The country singer and a concert promoter were both charged with disorderly conduct following a disagreement that turned physical Saturday (August 6) at a show in Bloomville, Ohio.

According to the Advertiser-Tribune, Tracy finished his set at the Smokin’ Country Concert and tried to leave, but was unable to do so because his tour buses were blocked in. Words were exchanged with the promoter, Elmer Cole, Jr., and both men reportedly threw punches.

Tracy and Elmer were each transported to the hospital for minor injuries, with most of the Texan singer’s wounds apparently on his face. They will each have to appear in Tiffin Municipal Court at a later date to face charges of disorderly conduct.

The 43-year-old has faced several legal battles in the past, including charges of reckless endangerment and spousal abuse, for which he was convicted in 1998. But it appears that in recent years, Tracy has stayed on the right side of the law, even releasing a Christian album in 2009 to prove his life was on the right track.

“I grew up in a very Christian household. We went to church every Sunday whether I wanted to or not,” he told The Boot. “Having children and a stable home life has really brought me back around to the importance of how I was raised … We started going back to church and taking the kids and really it’s brought me back around. It’s really leveled me out and brought a great peace to my life that I didn’t have for a long time.”

Smokin’ Country Concert was a three-day festival that also included performances by Darryl Worley and Craig Campbell. Randy Houser was scheduled to go on after Tracy, but had to cancel his set due to lightning.

Hopefully Tracy’s new legal woes won’t hamper his travel plans. He is spending the next several weeks on the road, including stops in South Dakota, Louisiana and Texas. See his concert schedule here.
