Trace Adkins to Show Support for Military Members By Headlining 2015 Vets Rock Concert

Trace Adkins has long been an outspoken advocate for those in the Armed Forces, and on Veterans Day 2015 (Nov. 11), he'll be showing his support by headlining a concert in their honor.

The singer will perform at the 2015 Vets Rock concert, which is being held at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. The Dropkick Murphys, Madison Rising, Tony Orlando and David Foster are also set to perform, with proceeds benefiting Til Duty Is Done, which helps to restore and improve the lives of veterans.

"Pretty much anytime a reputable veteran’s organization reaches out, we’re more than willing to step up and do whatever we can do," Adkins tells The Boot. "It just sounds like a fun event ... I really appreciate them putting this event on."

The 53-year-old says that he is especially honored to support Til Duty Is Done because of their variety of programs, all of which help veterans in need.

"Til Duty Is Done is an organization that tries to eliminate veteran homelessness. That's part of their thing. And they also try to help prepare these guys to get back in the workforce. They deal with employment issues," Adkins explains. "They try to train these guys, help them learn how to do proper interviews for a job, things like that. Basically, just trying to help them reintegrate, just get back in the game. It’s a noble effort. Anybody that tries to help folks like that, it’s a good thing."

Adkins, who is also a supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project, says that he will continue to champion the causes of veterans because they sacrifice so much of themselves.

"I have great admiration and respect for these folks who have sacrificed what they have," he says. "And also, I have to say, it’s a little bit of a selfish endeavor on my part, because if you have an opportunity to associate with these heroes, you should do it. You’re going to benefit from it. Hopefully some of it will rub off on you."

Vets Rock is an all-day event that will also feature resume specialists, a career fair, massage therapy and an opportunity for veterans to be fitted with professional clothing, as well as classes on yoga, music therapy, art therapy and mindfulness. A limited number of tickets are available on Ticketmaster.
