Trace Adkins joins a growing list of musicians canceling shows scheduled at SeaWorld in Orlando, Fla., while the park has been under fire for alleged abuse of whales.

The controversy surrounding SeaWorld has mainly come from 'Blackfish,' a documentary that centers on the treatment of the park's whales and how that has impacted the safety of the organization's trainers and performers.

“Trace prefers that the focus of his performances be on music, not on controversy,” a representative for Adkins says. “Therefore, he has decided not to proceed with this show in the midst of this debate.”

Adkins was scheduled to play the park's Bands, Brew & BBQ event on March 2. Other artists who have canceled shows include Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Willie Nelson, Cheap Trick, Heart and Barenaked Ladies.

“I don’t agree with the way they treat their animals,” Nelson tells CNN of the controversy. “It wasn’t that hard a deal for me ... I understand that there are some natural-habitat zoos out there, which is probably OK. But what they do at SeaWorld is not OK.”
