Trace Adkins, National Memorial Day Concert: Singer to Salute Troops for PBS Special

Trace Adkins has big plans for Memorial Day weekend this year. The “Million Dollar View” singer will travel to Washington, D.C., to perform for the “National Memorial Day Concert” set to air on PBS Sunday, May 27.

The country star will be joined for the evening by musicians Natalie Cole and Daughtry, as well as several celebrity guests, including Gary Sinise, Selma Blair, Ellen Burstyn, Dennis Franz and retired Army Gen. Colin Powell

In addition to its star-studded lineup, the evening concert will include a welcome home ceremony for troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, a spotlight on heroic efforts of veterans from previous wars, and an in-depth look at homeless veterans in the United States.

“Each year on the eve of Memorial Day, we gather at the U.S. Capitol to share the real stories of fallen and wounded heroes, their families, and their combat buddies as a way to remember, to grieve and begin to heal,” says concert co-host, actor Joe Mantegna. “Every one of your stories of remembrance is important to us. We are honored to be able to share these moving tributes from our loyal viewers as we remember the sacrifices made by so many to preserve our freedoms.”

The 90-minute show, which will be telecast live from the West Lawn on the U.S. Capitol, airs Sunday, May 27, beginning at 8:00 PM ET.

Trace is currently working on a new album while also crossing the country with his Songs and Stories tour. The trek has upcoming stops in Oklahoma, Georgia and Tennessee.
