Trace Adkins is getting ready to release a new single, "Lit." From the rowdy song's very first note, listeners will be stomping their feet and clapping their hands.

Monty Criswell, Derek George and Mickey Jack Cones are the tunesmiths behind "Lit," in which Adkins lists off the things that get him fired up: “Lucky Strike in a honky-tonk / Chicken fried on the chicken bone / Tennessee moonshiner, cooking that copper line / Granny drunk, playing bingo yelling out B-99 ..." Adkins also talks about "Grandpa fishin' with dynamite," "a little Sunday morning brimstone from a Pentecostal pastor" and "Keith Richards stoned on rock ’n' roll, tearin’ up that Telecaster."

But, the thing that gets Adkins "lit" like no other? His lady, of course.

"Slide on over, move a little closer / With that four-alarm fire engine red on your lips," Adkins sings in the song's chorus. "So hot you got me smokin' / Girl, you got it going / Oh, you’re the only one with the kiss that gets me lit.”

Readers can press play below to hear "Lit." Adkins will give his first television performance of the song during his Fox & Friends’ All American Summer Concert Series appearance on Friday (July 1), and the tune will become available on iTunes and at all other digital retailers and streaming partners at that time.

“Lit” is Adkins' second single with Wheelhouse Records (BBR Music Group); it follows "Jesus and Jones." Both of the songs will be on Adkins' forthcoming record, the details of which have yet to be announced.

“It’s freaking awesome. It’s a good album,” Adkins says. “I spent the last couple years working on this, and there’s been no sense of urgency: Nobody’s been pushing me; we’ve taken our time. I’m really pleased with the way it turned out.”
