Perhaps it's his height. Maybe it's his deep voice. It could also be his stoic nature. Whatever it is, Trace Adkins comes across as a pretty serious, straight-shooting, traditional guy. And at Country Jam 2016, that was what the crowd got: An hour-plus of straight-down-the-middle country tunes, with Adkins backed by a skilled group of musicians and a backup singer who has some serious chops.

Near the end of his set, Adkins brought his backup singer out front for "Every Time You Go," their voices blending stunningly together. That was her only time in the spotlight, but throughout his set, Adkins' showed off what's kept him in country music for so many years: That. Voice. The singer's deep baritone was on full display — on "Chrome" in particular, a performance the earned loud cheers from the audience.

Hits such as "(This Ain't) No Thinking Thing" and "Every Light in the House Is On" peppered Adkins' set with the artist's blend of country, soul and blues, while "You're Gonna Miss This" was a sweet moment that brought the crowd to their feet in approval. When he performed his first single, "There's a Girl in Texas," Adkins noted that "the words of this song mean more to me now than when I wrote it."

Adkins saved the most rockin' songs for last in his set: "Ladies Love Country Boys," "I Left Something Turned on at Home" and "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" closed out his show, with the audience offering up one of the weekend's loudest singalongs during the last tune.

Following Adkins' set, Zac Brown Band closed out the final day of Country Jam 2016.
