During the 59th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night (Feb. 12), several of the multi-genre music event’s biggest moments also happened to feature some of country music’s brightest stars. Throughout the three-and-a-half-hour telecast, big wins and performances from artists such as Sturgill Simpson, Maren Morris and Little Big Town, country music had its share of big moments on Music’s Biggest Night.

With so many wins and great performances, it’s hard to choose the best from Sunday night’s ceremony, but the five below definitely stand out among the night’s most important moments.

When taking home the 2017 Grammy Awards Best Country Song trophy for Tim McGraw’s 2016 smash hit “Humble & Kind,” songwriter McKenna was visibly emotional as she told the story behind the deeply personal song: “I just sat at my dining room table and wrote a song for my kids one day,” said McKenna as she accepted her Grammys honor. “And Tim McGraw made a moment out of this tiny, simple prayer that I wrote.”

Dressed in black Carhartt coveralls, Rory Feek accepted the Grammys trophy in the Best Roots Gospel Album category for Hymns That Are Important to Us, the album that he and wife Joey Feek recorded during her treatments for terminal Stage IV cancer. In his short (but emotional) acceptance speech, Rory Feek said that had he promised his wife that he would attend the Grammy Awards ceremony if the album was nominated; Joey Feek, meanwhile, told her husband, “If you win, I’ll know before you will.”

When she took the stage after winning her first-ever Grammys trophy, Morris gave one of the 2017 Grammy Awards’ best performances, a collaboration with Alicia Keys on Morris’ song “Once.” Morris matched Keys’ powerful vocals beautifully, and she more than staked her place as one of the country music genre’s hottest new artists.

After winning the Grarmmys’ Best Country Album trophy earlier in the day, Simpson took the stage to perform an intense and powerful rendition of “All Around You,” from his Best Country Album-winning A Sailor’s Guide to Earth. Introduced by Dwight Yoakam and playing in tribute to Sharon Jones alongside the Dap-Kings, Simpson made it clear that he’s fully transitioned from his role as a Nashville outsider into a bona fide country superstar.

In the ridiculously stacked Best Country Solo Performance category at the 2017 Grammy Awards, newcomer Morris was up against Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Brandy Clark and Carrie Underwood … which is exactly why her win, for “My Church,” came as such a surprise. Morris may not have taken home the trophy for Best Country Album, nor the all-genre Best New Artist honor, but it was still a big night for the Texas-born up and comer.
