Toby Keith Wins Lawsuit Over Father’s Death

Country star Toby Keith and his family have been awarded $2.8 million in a wrongful death lawsuit over the car crash that killed his father. The defendants were the owners of a charter bus company and their insurance company. Evidence was presented at the trial proving that the bus owners had been advised of an urgent brake problem before the bus collided with Keith's father's truck in the 2001 accident.

Keith's family initially thought their father had suffered a medical condition, causing his truck to veer into a median and then collide with the bus. But they later discovered he'd actually been bumped by another vehicle, causing him to lose control of his truck. The jury agreed, finding that Keith's father was not in any way at fault in the crash.
