The Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic is still doing as much good as ever. Held in early June, the fundraiser's "lucky 13" year raised nearly $1.2 million, according to a press release.

A total of $1.175 million was raised through the weekend's festivities, which kicked off with a Denim & Diamonds gala that featured music from Asleep at the Wheel and also included a celebrity golf tournament and an auction. Auction items included a rare, signed Elvis Presley album and a bow-and-rifle hunt in South Africa, as well as music memorabilia from Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Eric Church and more country stars.

Keith's annual event raises money for his Toby Keith Foundation, which is recognized as one of the largest childhood cancer charities in the country and provides support and housing for families of patients at the OK Kids Korral. At the Golf Classic, 7-year-old Buddy Meade and his mother Louisa spoke to Foundation supporters. Meade currently lives at the OK Kids Korral with his mother as he pursues leukemia treatment in Oklahoma City.

"Two days before the event, we didn't know if Buddy would be out of the hospital to speak at the event," says Juliet Nees-Bright, executive director of the Toby Keith Foundation. "He not only attended the event, but showed up in his warrior tie, full of strength and courage."
