Tim McGraw plays many parts on his upcoming album, Two Lanes of Freedom. The new project offers a mix of story songs, such as "Book of John," which follows a family as they go through a journal of their late patriarch, and "Number 37405," a song about a singer-turned-convict. The 13-track record even includes a duet with Keith Urban and Taylor Swift, "Highway Don't Care," which is featured as the last tune, in honor of Ms. Swift and her famous favorite number.

"I feel like I've progressed in my work, and I've always strived to get better," Tim says of his first album on his new record label, Big Machine. "On my last album, I was discovering some new sounds and new things that I wanted to do, scratching the surface of the direction I wanted to head. This album was a way to reach a little further back, to all that I'd done throughout my career, and bring both sides together-it's a combination of that discovery, along with some rediscovery."

His 12th studio album also includes the humorous romp, "Southern Girl," and the hangover inspired "Mexicoma," but it's the title track that the singer feels set the tone.

"When we cut 'Two Lanes of Freedom,' there was such a freshness to it," he says. "The track has this sort of Gaelic drive to it and really sets a palette for the whole record because it's so visual -- it has that summery, hazy image and I think that made the whole record open up for me."

In addition to the album, the Accelerated Deluxe Version offers four more songs, including a live version of the first single from the CD, "Truck Yeah." Two Lanes of Freedom goes on sale Feb. 5, 2013.
