After the news of country singer Lynn Anderson's death broke on Friday (July 31), numerous country music peers sent their condolences, but Tim McGraw went one step further and paid musical tribute to Anderson before a show in Cleveland, Ohio, that night.

In the video above, McGraw sends his condolences to Anderson's family before launching into a raucous rendition of "(I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden," Anderson's most familiar hit. The country star and his band look like they're having a grand old time playing the familiar tune, and at the end of the video, McGraw stands up with his arms in the air and cheers.

Anderson, whose funeral is set for Wednesday (Aug. 5), passed away on Thursday (July 30) following a heart attack.

McGraw is currently on his 2015 Shotgun Rider Tour, which kicked off at the beginning of June and will wrap up in mid-September; Chase Bryant and Billy Currington are his opening acts. The country star says that he's been conscious about including a variety of songs -- a good mix of old and new -- in his setlists during this summer's trek.

"What we try to do is go back and grab things sometimes that we didn’t get to do in the last couple of years," McGraw explained at the beginning of the tour. "Some hits that people haven’t heard in a while, maybe some album cuts that people haven’t heard in a while, do the stuff that’s on the radio now.”

In addition to his jam-packed trek across the country, McGraw is also hard at work at a brand-new album, which he hopes will be out at the end of the year.
