"Speak to a Girl," Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's new single, has given the married couple their highest Billboard Country Airplay chart debut as a duo. On the chart for the week of April 8, 2017, the song debuted at No. 19; it also landed at No. 33 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.

"Speak to a Girl" notched 12.7 million first-week audience impressions, Billboard reports, following its digital and to-radio release on March 23. Its first-week spots on the Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts are even more impressive given that the charts' weeks ran from March 20 through March 26; in other words, "Speak to a Girl" debuted in the middle of the week and had half the time other songs did to earn streams, sales and airplay.

Previously, McGraw and Hill's highest joint debut on the Country Airplay chart was at No. 35, where they landed with "It's Your Love" in May of 1997; that song eventually hit the chart's No. 1 spot. "Speak to a Girl" is the couple's sixth song to chart on the Country Airplay chart, and their first appearance together on the Country Airplay chart since "Meanwhile, Back at Mama's" in 2014.

"Speak to a Girl" is McGraw and Hill's seventh song to chart on the Hot Country Songs chart, meanwhile; their last song on that chart was "Keep Your Eyes on Me," their recently released duet from the The Shack movie soundtrack, which debuted and peaked at No. 44 in mid-February.

“Speak to a Girl” was written by Shy Carter, Dave Gibson and Joe Spargur; it was co-produced by Byron Gallimore, McGraw and Hill. McGraw and Hill each signed separate deals with Sony in mid-February and will release a collaborative album through the label later this year.

McGraw and Hill celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in October of 2016; during the same week, the pair received stars on the Music City Walk of Fame and hosted a sold-out “surprise” concert at the Ryman Auditorium to announce their 2017 co-headlining Soul2Soul Tour, which will begin in April. In early January, it was announced that they will be the subjects of a Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit beginning in November.
