Tim McGraw seems to be headed for another hit. His latest single, 'Diamond Rings and Old Barstools,' from his No. 1 'Sundown Heaven Town' album, is the most-added song at country radio.

“It’s a classic, great country song,” McGraw says. “When you come across those kind of songs ... these songs kind of allow you to dig in, and they have a little bit of country nostalgia, but also a modern edge. When I run across a song like that, I can’t wait to get into the studio and record it.”

The song follows 'Shotgun Rider,' which became a No. 1 single. But while it may seem that McGraw has a knack for picking hits, the Louisiana native admits a lot of it is just his own intuition.

“It has to hit you right away,” he says. “Melody’s a big thing for me, but it can go either way. Look, sometimes a song is so well written and the words are so beautiful, you really don’t care what the melody is. Conversely, sometimes a melody is so good that you don’t really care what the words say. It happens both ways.”

The singer's cousin, Catherine Dunn, sings with her famous uncle on 'Diamond Rings and Old Barstools.' No word yet if she'll join him on any dates when he kicks off his 2015 Shotgun Rider Summer Tour, which includes Chase Bryant and Billy Currington serving as his opening acts.

McGraw earned two Grammy nods for 'Meanwhile, Back at Mama's,' his second single from 'Sundown Heaven Town.' The song, which includes his wife, Faith Hill, is nominated for Best Country Song and Best Country Duo / Group Performance.
