The Ravenwood High School marching band recently got an offer they couldn't refuse -- even if it meant a lot of hard work.

Four days before the 2018 CMA Awards, band director Chris Janowiak received a phone call from the executive director of the Country Music Association, asking if his students from Brentwood, Tenn., would be able to perform with Thomas Rhett at the awards show on Wednesday night (Nov. 14) at Bridgestone Arena. He jumped at the chance, and so did his marching band members.

"I said, 'Go home and learn this,'" Janowiak tells the Tennessean. "We met before school started on Monday to piece everything together, and the kids were champs.

"They took that music, did their due diligence and learned all those parts," he adds. "It just speaks to their level of commitment for their program."

The Ravenwood High School marching band followed Rhett around Bridgestone Arena during the 2018 CMA Awards, for his energetic performance of his recent single "Life Changes." The teenagers rocked their instruments and dance moves through the star-studded audiences like true professionals.

"We had to scramble to put this thing together really quick ... It's been a whirlwind," Janowiak admits. "That time table is ridiculous. That's a professional musician timeline ... Their ability to tackle that head on is really impressive, [and] I'm really proud of them."

Rhett took home one trophy at the 2018 CMAs, for Music Video of the Year, for "Marry Me. He was nominated for two other CMA Awards in 2018, too: Album of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year.
