Grammy-nominated bluegrass/Americana act the Greencards release their fifth CD, 'The Brick Album,' today (June 21), via their own Darling Street label. (Listen to the full album, track-by-track, here.)

Led by Australians Carol Young and Kym Warner, the Nashville-based quartet have added two new members this time around: fiddle player Tyler Andal and national Flatpicking Champion guitarist Carl Miner, along with guest appearances by Vince Gill and Sam Bush.

'The Brick Album' was funded through contributions from the quartet's progressive "Buy a Brick" project, which allowed donors the opportunity to have their names inscribed on a brick within the wall which makes up the album's cover art.

"The times have changed a lot in the music industry, not so much in the creative side but in business side of making music," vocalist/mandolin player Kym Warner said of the band's crowdfunding approach to producing their new album. "We just wanted to give something unique and special to people, not just by sending them an early copy of the record by putting their names on the artwork. That makes them fully a part of it."

'The Brick Album,' out June 21, is the follow-up to the Greencards' 2009 disc, 'Fascination,' which featured the band's Grammy-nominated song 'The Crystal Merchant.'
