Welcome to The Boot's News Roundup, a morning rundown of the news country music fans need to know. Read on to learn more about the latest goings-on in the country, Americana, bluegrass and folk genres.

LeAnn Rimes has earned yet another place in country music history. According to Taste of Country, Rimes is the top country artist in Billboard's ranking of its Top 600 songs over the past 60 years. Rimes' record-setting pop-country crossover, "How Do I Live," clocks in at No. 5 in the overall rankings, thanks in large part to its 69 weeks on the chart. Shania Twain, Kenny Rogers, and Debby Boone also made the Top 100 tracks.

Brett Eldredge and pop singer Meghan Trainor will team up for an episode of CMT's Crossroads. CMT News reports that Eldredge and Trainor filmed their one-hour-long concert special at a show at Franklin, Tenn.'s Liberty Hall earlier this year. “Brett and I have known each other for a few years now, and I am such a fan of not only Brett’s music but him as a person,” Trainor said in a statement. “We first worked together on the song "Baby It’s Cold Outside" for his Christmas album, so I was thrilled to collaborate with him again on CMT Crossroads. He’s a superstar, and I was starstruck during the whole performance!’’ The episode is set to premiere on Sept. 3 at 10PM ET, and perhaps we'll be treated to an Eldredge-heavy rendition of Trainor's boppy mega-hit "All About That Bass."

Whitey Morgan and the 78's are set to release their sixth full-length album this fall. Titled Hard Times and White Lines, the 10-track record was self-produced by Morgan and recorded at Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo, Texas. Songwriters Travis Meadows and Ward Davis contributed tracks to the album, for which Morgan will also tackle a cover of ZZ Top's "Just Got Paid." Hard Times and White Lines is out on Oct. 26 on Whitey Morgan Music, with Thirty Tigers handling distribution.
