It's been a long road for accomplished singer and musician Megan Mullins, but the former solo country artist admits that she has finally hit her artistic stride, joining brother Marcus Mullins and husband John Bohlinger to form the new trio, Tennessee Hot Damns. Although the group is a newly-formed entity, Megan explains that her new venture is somewhat of a full-circle moment.

"I was originally signed with Marcus as a duo," Megan shares with Taste of Country. "Then he joined the service. He was deployed to Afghanistan. So then it was just me. We started off recording our duo stuff, and then he left."

The singer remained a signed artist on Broken Bow Records, recording over 40 tracks with three different producers. Despite a Top 40 single in 2007 with 'Ain't What It Used to Be,' none of the rest of Megan's work saw the light of day.

"I did an album with [producer] Mark Bright, I did an album with Randy Scruggs, and the last album I did was with Buddy Cannon. But they never put any of them out," she laments. "We cut over 40 sides before it was all said and done, they just didn't put an album out. It was fine for what it was."

After stints playing for Alabama frontman Randy Owen, latin pop singer Shakira and the 'Nashville Star' television series as a stage musician, the fiery-tressed singer decided to revive her own artist career upon Marcus' return home. "Much like we do since we're musicians, we would just sit in the living room and play music. We had been writing songs. One day we were just sitting around, and we were like, 'Hey, let's make an album,'" explains Megan.

What kind of sound can fans expect to hear on Tennessee Hot Damns' debut disc, 'Ready! Fire! Aim!?' "It's funny because we really do cover everything! From old-time country shuffles to gospel bluegrass to modern country to everything," says John.

"We recorded it in about eight days. When we needed a song, we just wrote it as we went," confesses Marcus. "It was great. It was so much fun."

"I just realized I'm happier making music with these two than I am in any other situation," Megan adds. "It's more fun for me to play with them than just being a solo artist. I definitely enjoy this more."

'Ready! Fire! Aim!' is now available for digital download. Click below to watch the trio perform 'Kisses Never Lie.'
