Taylor Swift and Tim McGraw were the big winners in the country genre at the 2014 People's Choice Awards on Wednesday night (Jan. 8).

The show aired live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, allowing fans to vote for their favorite performers in music, television and the movies.

Swift won the award for Favorite Country Artist, edging out Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, the Band Perry and Lady Antebellum.

McGraw was named Country Music Icon, receiving more votes than George Strait, Alan Jackson and Toby Keith to win the honor.

Neither star was present at the awards, for which fans cast more than 700 million votes this year. Fellow country star Brad Paisley was not nominated, but he was on hand to perform his newest single, 'The Mona Lisa.'
