Taylor Swift has dozens of awards heralding her success as a singer-songwriter, and now she has a new trophy that honors her charitable side. The 22-year-old superstar was recently named as the recipient of the 2012 Honorary Star of Compassion Award.

The award, which is given by the Northwest Disaster Services, honors Taylor's altruistic endeavors, including her recent donation of $4 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

"Taylor Swift has inspired the small community of Northwest Tennessee with her uplifting words and music of encouragement and has become a positive role model for the young and old alike here," the organization's director Rob Adcock states (quote via Starpulse.com). "It is with great honor and appreciation that we present this one of a kind, jeweled award to such an outstanding individual on behalf of our organization."

The "Eyes Open" singer is well known for her generosity. In addition to recently donating 14,000 books to Nashville libraries, she also donated $500,000 to various flood relief efforts in Tennessee last year, and she opened up her dress rehearsal for her global Speak Now tour to raise money for tornado relief across the Southeast.

The songstress is spending her summer off the road, working on a new album. She is nominated for four Teen Choice Awards, including one for Choice Female Artist. The Teen Choice Awards will air live on Fox on Sunday, July 22 at 8:00 PM ET.
