Taylor Swift to Rock the High Seas
Just before her Speak Now World tour kicks off in February, Taylor Swift will take a luxurious vacation with a few hundred fans! The country superstar will perform on the Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas, a 5,400 passenger, 16-deck cruise ship, on January 21. Taylor's high seas concert will take place in the ship's Aquatheater, an open-air arena with an ocean view, while the ship docks in Cozumel, Mexico, the final port on the Allure's Western Caribbean itinerary.
In order to obtain passes to the concert, passengers will be invited to participate in Taylor-themed events on the cruise such as trivia and karaoke, and other passengers lucky enough to room near the Aquatheater will have a chance to hear the show from their balconies and suites as well, according to Shermanstravel.com. The seven-night round trip cruise will depart from Ft. Lauderdale on January 16 and visit Labadee, Haiti, as well as Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. Rates start at $1065 for interior cabins.
No word on whether Taylor will bring her reported new squeeze, Jake Gyllenhaal, with her on board her cruise, but the two were seen in Brooklyn on Thanksgiving, sharing two maple lattes at Park Slope's Gorilla Coffee Shop, according to People.com. The shop is a family favorite of Jake and his sister Maggie, who lives in the area and frequently stops in.
Taylor found some common ground with TV host Chelsea Handler recently when she appeared on her show and joked about rapper 50 Cent, whom Chelsea is rumored to be dating. "When we're on tour, we have all three girls, the backup singer, the fiddle player, and me, in one room, and we all warm up to 50 Cent music. It would be surprising how many lyrics I know," Taylor told Chelsea. To which Chelsea glibly replied, "I'm surprised that you warmed up to 50 Cent, because I have warmed up to 50 Cent."
