Thomas Rhett

Thomas Rhett, born Thomas Rhett Akins, has country music in his blood: His father is Rhett Akins, a successful songwriter who had a series of hits as an artist in the 1990s. Rhett tried college, but he felt the pull to the music industry and dropped out, and began playing in clubs to support himself. It was while playing in a club that someone from Big Machine Label Group offered Rhett a publishing deal; after he signed it, he quickly began earning cuts by artists such as Jason Aldean, Lee Brice and Florida Georgia Line, and it wasn't long before Rhett's publishing company took notice of his vocal chops and signed him to the Valory Music Co., a division of BMLG. Rhett's debut album, 'It Goes Like This', was released in 2013 and spawned three platinum-selling No. 1 singles, including the multi-platinum song "It Goes Like This," which was his first chart-topping single. In 2015, Rhett released his sophomore album, 'Tangled Up', which went platinum. Rhett served as an opening act on several major tours, including Lady Antebellum's Own the Night Tour and Jason Aldean's We Were Here Tour, before launching his own headlining Home Team Tour in 2017. In 2012, Rhett married Lauren Gregory, whom he has known since childhood. The couple announced the news that Lauren was pregnant in early 2017, and before the baby was born, in May of 2017, they completed adoption proceedings of a baby girl, Willa Gray Akins, who was born in Uganda. In August of that year, they welcomed their second daughter, Ada James Akins. Rhett discusses his family life in the lyrics on his third studio album, 'Life Changes,' which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
