Nashville duo Sugar & Steel are premiering the music video for their new song "If I Was the Rain" exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play above to watch husband and wife Spencer and Sidnye Askew show off their chemistry and killer harmonies.

The video for the poppy, upbeat "If I Was the Rain" is a glimpse into the Askews' "perfect rainy day together." It features the couple cozying up at home, goofing off in the kitchen and eating pizza together. After meeting in 2012, the pair moved to Nashville and began making music together, combining Sidnye's pop-country vocals with Spencer's bluesy influence, cultivated in his home state of Mississippi.

"If I Was the Rain" is the first song from Sugar & Steel's 2018 album, titled Land Here. According to the duo, the album was written to tell the story of their relationship, from their fateful meeting at an open mic night, at which Spencer was performing, to their marriage and the formation of Sugar & Steel.

“We want to be as true to ourselves as we can be,” Spencer Askew says. “No one is buying what you say if it isn’t important to you, and in this culture, it’s obvious if you aren’t authentic.”

Land Here was released in March. Fans can find the album on all major digital platforms, including iTunes and Spotify, and keep up with Sugar & Steel on SugarAndSteelMusic.com.
