The Golden Boot Awards are back!

The Boot's fan-voted digital awards return in 2015 for a second year, and this time around, we've added two new categories -- New Artist of the Year and the Living Legend Award -- in addition to our five original categories: Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Music Video of the Year and Live Act of the Year. Each category features staff-selected nominees who made waves in the country music world from May 2014 through April 2015. Let's take a look at this year's Song of the Year nominees.

Ever since fans laid ears on Kenny Chesney's impossibly catchy "American Kids," it's been a big hit. The song's fresh beat and freeing message made it possible for the tune to soar to the top spot on the iTunes Country Songs chart just two days after its debut. "American Kids" is a platinum-certified hit that received ACM Awards, Grammy Awards and CMA Awards nominations.

Florida Georgia Line's "Dirt" was quite the departure from their usual high-energy, lighthearted songs. "Dirt" packs a punch in a serious yet accessible way, and judging from its platinum certification, No. 1 spot on the charts and ACM Awards nomination, everyone else agreed: FGL hit the jackpot with this song.

Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert wowed fans with "Somethin' Bad," a girl power-heavy and highly entertaining duet. It became the first No. 1 song by a duo of solo women in more than two decades and received several well-deserved nods at the Grammys, ACMs and CMAs.

Little Big Town made a big splash with "Girl Crush." In some ways, the critical reviews and controversy may have led them to a little "day drinking" (get it?), but all publicity is good publicity ... right? The song opened up a larger dialogue about LGBTQ acceptance (or not) in the country music community, and many country stars showed their support. The song is LBT's highest-charting single and first Top 20 single on the Billboard Hot 100.

When Maddie & Tae revealed "Girl in a Country Song," everyone laughed (it's seriously funny) and applauded them on their tongue-in-cheek humor that also makes a very good point. The two ladies are some of the youngest artists in country right now, but you wouldn't know it by their in-sync harmonies. This tune was their debut single and was certified gold (how many people can say that?) and hit No. 1.

The lead single from Blake Shelton's Bringing Back the Sunshine, "Neon Light" goes back to more traditional country, something Shelton was striving for with his most recent offering. The song was certified gold, hit No. 1 and helped him break a big record: It was his 13th consecutive No. 1 single, making Shelton the artist with the most consecutive No. 1 songs on Billboard and Mediabase country charts since the beginning of monitored airplay.

Underwood's powerhouse vocals on "Something in the Water," one of two new songs on her Greatest Hits: Decade #1 album, are spot on. The track was a crossover success, reaching No. 1 on both the country and Christian charts, and is an unashamed proclamation of her Christian faith. Underwood received a Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance for the song, which also gave the singer her longest reign on the country charts.

Keith Urban and Eric Church teamed up for "Raise 'Em Up," released in January 2015. It was a great way to start the year, for both the artists and their fans. The song efficiently and artistically looks at the fast-paced passage of time, causing listeners to hug their loved ones a little tighter and raise their fists in solidarity with this truly great song.

Which of these nominees do you think should win the title of Song of the Year in the 2015 Golden Boot Awards? Vote as often as once per hour in the poll below through noon ET on Monday, June 8, and we'll announce the winners on the site.
