The band and crew members of Shenandoah were involved in an early morning bus accident that occurred around 3AM on Saturday (June 7) in Texas.

The 'Church on Cumberland Road' singers had performed in Stafford, Tex., and were crossing the Neches River Bridge on Interstate 10 in Beaumont, when a drunk driver crashed into the back of a vehicle carrying a fuel tank, with their bus following not far behind. With no time to move out of the way, the bus driver was forced to drive the bus right through the flames, sideswiping one of the vehicles in the process.

"There was a big bang, then we were sideswiped and engulfed in a huge fireball as big as a house," drummer Mike McGuire recounts.

"Witnesses behind us told authorities that the flames totally engulfed our bus at one point and you could not see it. Our driver swerved to miss them as they were just in front of us and on fire. We almost rolled the bus over on its side in [the] attempt to swerve to miss it. If we hadn't done that, we would've likely rolled off the bridge. Fortunately, there was a police car parked right off the bridge where we pulled over. We were able to report the accident to the officer as soon as we stopped."

He adds, "We could see the vehicles burning on top of the bridge behind us and traffic was at a stand still from the other side. Thanks to everyone for the prayers and well wishes. The Lord was watching over and protecting us."

Amazingly, no one on the Shenandoah bus was injured. A husband and wife also involved in the crash were taken to a local hospital. The intoxicated driver, who was not injured, will be charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.

The exterior of Shenandoah's bus was damaged by the flames and collision. The group were forced to cancel their Saturday night show in Kenedy, Tex., but will resume their concert schedule this month with shows in Minnesota and North Carolina. See all of their upcoming concerts here.
