Shania Twain treated fans watching her Today performance on Friday morning (June 16) to not one, but two, new songs. In addition to performing her brand-new single, "Life's About to Get Good," the country star sang her new song "Swinging With My Eyes Closed."

Readers can press play above to see Twain's performance of "Swinging With My Eyes Closed." Twain says "the fighter in [her]" is responsible for the track, which features an island-inspired beat, horns and lyrics such as "Swinging with my eyes closed / Got my hair down ... Fists up in the air / Oh, like we don't care."

“I was thinking of a boxer taking a swing, or a baby first coming out with his eyes and fists closed," Twain explains of the inspiration for "Swinging With My Eyes Closed." "They can’t even see yet and they’re swinging with their eyes closed.”

Shania Twain Through the Years

Twain notes that "Swinging With My Eyes Closed" actually started out "totally dark" -- and then, it took a turn.

"It’s just all of a sudden the light went on and there was light as well as darkness," she notes. "There’s a lot of songs that have that contrast on it that maybe are too subtle for the listener to even realize.”

In addition to "Swinging With My Eyes Closed" and "Life's About to Get Good," Twain performed two of her classic hits, "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" and "That Don't Impress Me Much," on Today. She announced on Wednesday (June 14) that her long-awaited new album, Now, is due out on Sept. 29.
