Scotty McCreery has commented publicly on the ordeal he went through early Monday morning (May 5), when armed intruders burst into an apartment where he was reportedly visiting friends

The ‘American Idol‘ season 10 winner and several others were at the apartment around 2AM when three armed men broke in, taking wallets, cash and electronic items before escaping.

The apartment is located near the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, where McCreery is attending classes while continuing to pursue his music career.

No injuries were reported in the robbery. Investigators were working toward putting together descriptions of the suspects on Monday.

The ‘See You Tonight’ singer took to social media later in the day to issue the following statement:

McCreery’s mother told local news station WRAL that the singer returned to the family’s home in his hometown of Garner, N.C. after the incident. The family declined further comment.
