Scotty McCreery, ‘American Idol’ Performance of ‘Water Tower Town’ (VIDEO)

Thursday night (March 29), Scotty McCreery returned to the stage that made him a superstar. The baritone-voiced high school senior performed his brand-new single, 'Water Tower Town' on 'American Idol.' The uptempo tune is the third release from the Season 10 winner's debut album, 'Clear As Day.'

After his performance was met with deafening cheers, Scotty was joined onstage by 'Idol' host Ryan Seacrest and Chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records Jimmy Iovine for a special surprise. They presented the 18 year old with a plaque marking platinum sales of 'Clear as Day' -- meaning that in less than a year, Scotty has gone from grocery store clerk to million-selling country music megastar.
