Scotty McCreery performed a fundraising concert last week (Dec. 4) for a worthwhile cause. The singer raised $60,000 for the 12.14 Foundation, which develops programs to help children gain confidence, inspiration and skills to assist in overcoming tragic life events.

McCreery serves as the national goodwill ambassador for the 12.14 Foundation, and he says he was honored to use his show in Wallingford, Conn., to help support the organization.

“Music has always been a positive force in my life, whether as a fan or now as an entertainer,” he says. "It feels great to bring people together with my music and help such a worthwhile cause as the 12.14 Foundation.”

As Michael Baroody, M.D., founder of the 12.14 Foundation, "In addition to his obvious musical talents, Scotty is genuine, kind and has unshakable conviction. His generosity ... helps further our efforts to utilize the performing arts in helping children understand their strengths, passions and capabilities preparing them with tools for tomorrow.”

The 12.14 Foundation began in the wake of the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newton, Conn., which claimed the lives of 26 victims on Dec. 14, 2012.

“I’m honored to support the 12.14 Foundation and greatly admire both the mission and work of this remarkable organization,” McCreery said when he was appointed to his role earlier this year. “As a songwriter and performer, I know that music can bring hope and inspiration to those struggling to overcome great adversity.”

The 'Feelin' It' singer received three early Christmas gifts last month, when his songs 'I Love You This Big,' 'The Trouble With Girls' and 'Clear as Day' all earned platinum status, signifying sales in excess of one million units.

McCreery's concert in Connecticut was the final show of his See You Tonight Tour, which included Danielle Bradbery as his opening act.
