Sara Evans helped fans get into the holiday spirit with the release of her Christmas album, 'At Christmas,' in October. The 10-track record includes several holiday classics, but it's the title track that she says is one of her personal favorites.

"From the first time I heard 'At Christmas,' I knew I had to record it and put it on the album," she tells AL.com. "Since it's the only original song, it made the most sense to also call the album 'At Christmas,' too. It reminds me of the Mariah Carey song 'All I Want for Christmas Is You.' It just sounds and feels like a song that you've been hearing and singing along to for years. I hope that ends up being the case years from now!"

The song was written by one of Evans' good friends, so it has even more significance for her.

"My good friend Shane Stevens wrote it, which makes it even more special," Evans explains. "To me, it sounds like one of those songs that could turn into a new standard that gets played every year."

The songstress also included one of her favorite Christmas carols on the project.

"I've always loved 'O Holy Night' and had the privilege of recording it for 'At Christmas,'" Evans notes. "Most people don't know the other verses, but I made sure to record more on my version. It's so powerful and moving."

As for Evans and her family, which includes her husband Jay Barker, three children and four stepchildren, they plan on keeping the actual holiday low-key.

"We tend to be homebodies on Christmas day, just lounging around the house after a big family breakfast and opening presents," Evans reveals. "When we can all get together as a family, I treasure those moments and want to drink them in as much as possible."

'At Christmas' also includes '12 Days of Christmas,' which she recorded with her daughters, Audrey and Olivia. Download the entire album here.
