Sammy Kershaw is mourning the loss of his brother, Minos, who passed away on Friday (Sept. 27).

"My younger brother Minos passed away late this afternoon," Kershaw wrote on his Facebook page." The world lost a good hearted guy today but Heaven gained an awesome soul."

Kershaw, who long ago admitted to People he was estranged from his younger brother and other siblings because of their difficult childhood, says the funeral will be held Monday (Sept. 30).

"Visitation opens again Monday morning at 9 a.m," he shares. "With a service at the funeral home at 10 a.m. followed by the burial."

Among Kershaw's many hits are 'Vidalia,' 'Queen of the Double Wide Trailer,' 'Love of My LIfe' and his No. 1 hit, 'She Don't Know She's Beautiful.'  His most recent album, 'Better Than I Used to Be,' was released in 2010.

This has been a difficult year for Kershaw. In addition to the death of his brother, he also had a fire in his home earlier this year, which resulted in severe smoke damage throughout his house.

The Boot extends our condolences to Kershaw and his family.
