Sam Outlaw and Whitney Rose will be hitting the road together in 2016, on their recently announced Country & Western Nights Tour.

The two up-and-coming country acts will be kicking off their tour on Feb. 19 at the Soda Bar in San Diego, Calif., before continuing on to dates in the Northwest and Southwest, as well as a few shows in Texas, Georgia and Tennessee. A full list of tour dates is below, and more information can be found at SamOutlaw.com and WhitneyRoseMusic.com.

Both Outlaw and Rose have forgone the pop sounds that are prevalent from today's most-famous country stars. Instead, Rose takes a more traditional approach to the genre on her sophomore album, Heartbreaker of the Year, and Outlaw ushers in a SoCal Country sound on his 2015 release, Angeleno.

“When you grow up out here, it obviously becomes a home, but there’s something about LA — I guess it just becomes sad in a way, perhaps because you see [that] it’s not just enough that you can create, but you have to be famous for your creations,” Outlaw tells The Boot of drawing inspiration for his music from a place other than the South. “We have this culture now where people would almost rather get retweeted than write a good song or deliver a stirring performance — where the fame takes precedence over the creation itself.

“… Also, I think we all sense that [Los Angeles] used to be something else,” he adds, referring to the glamour of the LA of old, “and maybe that something else was special.”

For Rose, who hails from Canada's Prince Edward Island, the idea for her track "The Last Party" came from a more traditional source.

“I heard a lot of classic country music around my house growing up … Kitty WellsPatsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, etc., and was drawn to it from the beginning,” she tells The Boot. “I probably have about 20 sister songs to “The Last Party” that I’ve written over the years. Most are in the vault and will never see the light of day.”
