Sam Hunt performed "Take Your Time" during the 2015 ACM Awards. The song is his latest single from his 2014 Montevallo album.

The singing-and-rapping song struck a chord with some listeners, who were at least intrigued by Hunt's performance.

“People who discovered us through that song say that it caught their attention and inspired them to look up who I am as an artist and dig in and find other music,” he says. “If nothing else, it sparked curiosity for people. That was part of the goal.

Hunt is nominated for the ACM Award for New Artist of the Year this year, along with Thomas Rhett and Cole Swindell.

“It’s such a big deal,” Hunt says of the nomination. “It’s such a morale boost for the team and everyone who has been working so hard to progress this whole project and everything that we’re doing. Not that we’re down and out or anything, we’ve had so many really cool things over the last several months.”

With a lot of early success, including both Montevallo and the debut single, "Leave the Night On," both landing at No. 1, and the single also earning platinum status for sales of one million units, the 30-year-old isn't resting on his laurels anytime soon.

“I feel like we are very new to this world,” Hunt acknowledges, “and we have a long way to go and definitely still have to prove our being worthy of belonging.”

Hunt just wrapped up his own headlining Lipstick Graffiti Tour, and will soon hit the road as an opening act, along with Hunter Hayes, on Lady Antebellum's Wheels Up Tour 2015. See all of Hunt's upcoming shows on his website.
