Joey + Rory are nominated for Vocal Duo of the Year at the 2016 CMA Awards, and accompanying Rory Feek to the awards show will be two very special guests: Joey Feek's mom and dad.

Rory Feek tells Taste of Country that his late wife's parents will be accompanying him to the ceremony on Wednesday night (Nov. 2); "we'll be there together, sharing in it," he says, noting that the three will walk the red carpet together as well.

Feek admits that he hasn't thought about what he'll say if Joey + Rory are announced as Vocal Duo of the Year winners, but he admits that the nomination alone is "a blessing, especially now, to have my wife's voice and our music be lifted up the way that it is."

"The accolades -- I mean, is it enjoyable? It's appreciated," he adds. "I'm always a little uncomfortable with all the big to-do stuff -- Joey and I always kind of were -- but we know how special it is to be honored and nominated, so that means a lot to us, especially now."

He does know who Joey Feek would have thanked first, though: “God. No doubt. Wouldn’t even hesitate.”

Joey Feek lost her months-long battle with cancer in early March, but Joey + Rory have continued to earn awards nominations, and take home some trophies, in the months since. The husband-and-wife duo was recently awarded a GMA Dove Award and three ICM Awards.

In February, Joey + Rory released their final album, Hymns That Are Important to Us. Fans both old and new had followed the Feeks' story for months, and that interest helped Hymns top both the Billboard Top Country Albums and Top Christian Albums charts in its first week.
