Rich O’Toole Tour Diary, Week 6: Beer in St. Louis, Taco T-Shirts in Kansas
Texas country star Rich O’Toole, who has had 14 Top 10 hits at Texas radio, embarked on his national Jaded Tour on Oct. 9. He’ll visit more than 20 cities before the trek wraps up in Nashville in November, co-headlining some dates with the Novel Ideas and supporting Corey Smith and Joe Ely on select dates as well. Throughout the duration of his tour, O’Toole will be a guest blogger on The Boot, providing a weekly tour diary entry about life on the road with his band and crew.
We had one day off in Nashville before we hit the road, so we all did laundry and went out that night with some great friends for beer and hot chicken!
With two days in St. Louis, Mo., we decided to really take in what the Gateway to the West had to offer. Being far from the Texas and California temps I'm used to, it was a unanimous decision to head right to the Anheuser-Busch plant to toss back a few and numb the below-freezing weather.
The fine folks of Budweiser showed us around the grounds, including checking out the famous Clydesdales, followed by some free beer flights and T-shirts!
We carried the good-time feeling down the street to one of the trippiest, most electric watering holes I've ever been to, and that's the Venice Cafe. From the funky lighting to the exaggerated artwork, this was a perfect nightcap to a much-welcomed day off in St. Louis.
Our second day in the city, we took in more local flavor, eating some fried ravioli, and rocked that night at the famous Plush Theater in downtown St. Louis.
The next day, we cruised into Columbia, Mo., for a show at the Bridge. It was a rowdy crowd, and we had to get some late-night pizza with some fans. Then, we were off to Manhattan, Kan., to finish out the weekend with a very special show with our buddy Granger Smith. I go back a long way with these guys, so it really meant a lot sharing the stage again for a packed house.
After getting a sweet taco shirt from a fan, we are on our way to Denver, Colo., to finish out the final week of the #JadedTour. Stay tuned, and follow us on Twitter -- and we hope to see you on the road this week!
