Rich O’Toole Tour Diary, Week 3: Stingrays in Texas, Music Under the Stars in Louisiana
Texas country star Rich O’Toole, who has had 14 Top 10 hits at Texas radio, embarked on his national Jaded Tour on Oct. 9. He’ll visit more than 20 cities before the trek wraps up in Nashville in November, co-headlining some dates with the Novel Ideas and supporting Corey Smith and Joe Ely on select dates as well. Throughout the duration of his tour, O’Toole will be a guest blogger on The Boot, providing a weekly tour diary entry about life on the road with his band and crew.
Our week started out with a stop in Galveston, Texas, to meet up with some old friends at their place in Pirates Cove. The crew fired up the grill and made a feast for kings (and queens), followed up by some late night jamming and fishing ... where our guitarist Max snagged a stingray!
The next day, we swung into Houston to catch a set from Texas blues guitar legend Little Joe Washington and shot a segment on CW 39's 'Tuned In With Ky Meyer,' who highlights Texas artists and musicians and gave a great endorsement for the new 'Jaded' record.
After a morning jog on the beach, we were off to Louisiana to join up with Georgia's own Corey Smith, but not before taking in some local attractions, including a roadside casino, where our tour manager Chelsea got her first taste of losing at video poker, and a gas station with a tiger exhibit! Only in Louisiana!
We were welcomed into an incredible outdoor venue in Bossier City called the Stage, where we rocked under the stars and took in the Louisiana hospitality with Corey and the crew.
A couple dates in the Bayou State were followed by a trip into Oklahoma, where we met some great fans for Tacos with O'Toole and did two shows with Corey Smith -- Stillwater, Okla., and Ardmore, Okla.!
It was bittersweet saying bye to Corey and his band, but we'll soon be back rocking the Southern states with them again! Such a crazy week being on the Corey Smith Tour!
We are off to Kansas City to hang and watch the World Series! Tune in next week, and use the #JadedTour hashtag to follow us on Twitter!
