Rich O’Toole Tour Diary, Week 2: Beers and Burgers in San Antonio, Jamming With Joe Ely and Stoney LaRue

Texas country star Rich O’Toole, who has had 14 Top 10 hits at Texas radio, embarked on his national Jaded Tour on Oct. 9. He’ll visit more than 20 cities before the trek wraps up in Nashville in November, co-headlining some dates with the Novel Ideas and supporting Corey Smith and Joe Ely on select dates as well. Throughout the duration of his tour, O’Toole will be a guest blogger on The Boot, providing a weekly tour diary entry about life on the road with his band and crew.

The first week of touring went great! We started with a couple days off in San Antonio, where we took in the culture, ate some tacos and laid by the pool. We even took in a Texas State football game and drank some beers with our buddy Pat Green.

Our first tour stop was Sam's Burger Joint in San Antonio, Texas. They did not let us down with a rowdy show! The next day, we traveled to Corpus Christi, Texas, to share the stage with our pal Stoney LaRue. Before sound check, we walked by the water and took in some rays. That night, it was a sold-out crowd, and we had a warm welcome back to Corpus. Unbelievable energy between us and the crowd.

The next day we traveled to Fredericksburg, Texas, to open for my idol, the one and only Joe Ely. This was a dream come true. I have been a huge Joe Ely fan for a while, and he put on a great show. We had a 30-minute drive back to Kerrville, so we got a little rowdy in the van!

The next day was a 5-hour drive to Fort Worth, Texas, cowboy capital of the world, to jam at the Whiskey Girl saloon in the famous Stockyards! But first we stopped in Llano, Texas, to get some great BBQ and talk to some locals. That night we rocked the stage and got some girls up to dance. My head still hurts typing this! LOL
