Dave Innis of Restless Heart is mourning the loss of his father Eugene, who passed away on Monday (Oct. 19), following a brief illness.

"My dad was more than a father to me; he was my role model," Innis says in a statement. "Generous and thoughtful, he lived his life honorably and ran his race with integrity from start to finish.

"I will miss him," Innis adds. "He was my best friend."

Elbert Eugene Innis was born on Jan. 19, 1927, in Meade, Kan. According to a press release, the elder Innis "loved his family, his friends and his church community" and "thoroughly enjoyed the symphony, the arts, theater and travel."

In addition to Dave Innis and his wife Adrienne, Eugene Innis is survived by his son Steve and wife Nancy, as well as three grandchildren, Isom, Isabella and Isaiah. His wife Betty passed away two years ago, in October of 2013, after suffering a stroke and a brief illness. The two had been married for 61 years.

Earlier this month, Restless Heart were inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. In addition to Innis, Paul Gregg and Greg Jennings are Oklahoma natives.

The Boot extends our condolences to Innis and his family.
