Reba McEntire's return to the small screen will be earlier than expected. The chart-topper is slated to star in the upcoming sitcom 'Malibu Country,' but fans won't have to wait until next fall to see her on their TV screen. The songstress has partnered with GAC for a 90-minute concert special that was taped at the Lafayette, La., stop of her All the Women I Am tour.

"I'm thrilled to be partnering with GAC for this special," says Reba. "We had a blast out on the road with our new production this past fall, and I hope that all the fans who tune in enjoy it as much as we did."

This is Reba's first televised concert in more than 15 years, and it includes the redhead's signature songs from 'Is There Life Out There' to her self-titled sitcom's theme song, 'I'm a Survivor' and 'Does He Love You,' which features the Band Perry's Kimberly Perry. She also performs newer tunes such as 'Turn on Your Radio,' 'Strange,' 'Somebody's Chelsea' and 'All the Women I Am.'

As for her acting return, the Hollywood Reporter reveals the ABC television network has picked up the 'Malibu Country' pilot.

The half-hour show will center on Reba's character, who after discovering her rock-star husband cheating on her, moves from Nashville to California. The southern spitfire and her kids will have to adjust to the very different world of Malibu, where she'll also try to resurrect her music career.

"I miss the 'Reba' show so much, so it will be great to get back into the TV world again!" Reba posted on her website, referring to her sitcom that ran from 2001 - 2007 on the WB and CW networks.

Reba will also act as an executive producer on 'Malibu Country,' alongside her husband Narvel Blackstock, former 'Reba' producer Kevin Abbott, Mindy Schultheis, Michael Hanel, Pam Williams and musician Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics. It's not yet known when the pilot will air.

Shooting for the 'Malibu Country' pilot episode is tentatively set for April, and if all goes well, they'll continue filming more episodes at the end of the summer.

The GAC concert special premieres March 17 at 10:00 PM ET on GAC.
