Rascal Flatts have sold millions of records and won numerous awards, but if you ask the trio's bassist/piano player Jay DeMarcus what he's most proud of, he may point to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital.

Jay and band mates Gary LeVox and Joe Don Rooney have supported the Nashville care center -- home of the Rascal Flatts Surgery Center -- for more than six years, and they recently stopped by to visit with patients and play some music.

In the video below, all three band members express their gratitude for the doctors, nurses and other staff members who have devoted their lives to helping ailing youngsters. "In my mind, it's one of the big and best accomplishments we've been able to achieve as Rascal Flatts," Jay says, referring to the surgical wing, which opened last year.

"The closest thing to heaven on earth is this place," Gary says. "We are truly honored and humbled to be a part of this establishment. The doctors and the staff are absolutely world class. Not just in the profession, but in their hearts and as people."

"It's one of the better days of our year just to get to hear their stories and meet these amazing children and see what a difference this hospital has made in a lot of these people's lives," adds Joe Don.

In addition to doing good deeds, the trio is hard at work on a planned fashion line and forthcoming album, which they plan to release April 3.
