Randy Houser released a new single, "Song Number 7," on Friday (March 11), to coincide with the debut of his brand-new record, Fired Up. The song was written by Justin Wilson, Ben Hayslip and Chris Janson.

""Song Number 7" is just a fun sort of song," Houser tells Radio.com. "I think it’s about as poppy of a song as we’ve cut on this record. It’s straight down the middle; it just talks about listening to a record with a girl, and when you get to song No. 7’s when things heat up usually. So it’s fairly simple, and guess what number it is on the album. Number seven."

Houser sets out the premise in the tune's first verse, singing, "Song number one, yeah, that’s the one / That was bumpin’ outta the speakers / Everybody knew the words / Everybody sang along / Everybody could see her / And the sweet melody of song number three / Had her slidin’ on over to me … but ..."

The chorus, then, presses into the song's title and ultimate meaning. It's catchy and sweet, but Houser's full vocals and smart delivery make it romantic without being overtly saccharine.

"Song number seven / Took me all the way to heaven that night / Song number seven / Cranked up to 11 set the mood just right," Houser sings. "I was holdin’ her tight / She had her hands in the air / She was fallin’ in love, and I was already there / By song number seven ..."

“I think ["Song Number 7"] is going to be a big song for Chris and for me and Justin and Ben, three of the best songwriters I know,” Houser tells the Tennessean. “It’s one of those songs that, you hear it, and you can’t help but sing along with it almost immediately. That’s the kind of songs I wanted for this album and I wanted to play live. I want people out there singing and having fun.”

Fired Up is Houser's first new music in more than three years. Already, he's been awarded his fourth No. 1 with the project's lead single, "We Went."

“We’ve waited a long time to get this new music out, because we wanted to get it right,” says Houser. “I put my heart and soul into my music, and every album is a reflection of where I am in my life, which hopefully other people can relate to. I’m so thankful to be in a really great place right now with this album, and I can’t wait to play the new music on the road this summer!”
