RaeLynn recently announced that she would be delaying the release of her long-awaited WildHorse album, her first on Warner Bros. Records and first full-length project since competing during Season 2 of The Voice in 2012. Despite the delay, the singer is "super proud" of the record and "can't believe" it will finally be available to her fans.

"This record really shows where I’ve been the last four years, [and] the growth that I’ve had these last four years," RaeLynn tells The Boot. "I grew up basically in Nashville … I’m just really thankful for it. It’s been a long time coming."

A Texas native, RaeLynn moved to Music City when she was just 17 years old and began honing her songwriting skills by writing with tunesmiths such as Natalie Hemby and Nicole Galyon, whom the artist says helped her become the singer and writer she is today.

"Those are some of the first people that invested in me as an artist," RaeLynn notes.

WildHorse's title track is derived from a poem that RaeLynn's grandmother -- whom the singer refers to as "Memaw" and who passed away with RaeLynn was a month old -- wrote about RaeLynn's mother.

"The poem was about, she was being kind of crazy and, like, her little wild child, but she couldn’t imagine her any other way," RaeLynn divulges. "She was just saying she knew she’d be successful with her life and all these things. So, when I read that poem, I didn’t know at the time what I wanted to title my record, but I realized right then, I wanted to title it WildHorse."

RaeLynn's current single, "Love Triangle," was written with Galyon and Jimmy Robbins and, as fans know, is based on her own experiences from her parents' divorce.

"Honestly, I didn’t think this song was going to be a single, because it was just so personal, and I was like, 'I don’t want something that heavy out, and I don’t know if it will work,'" RaeLynn confesses. "But when I found out that over 51 percent of marriages end in divorce, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s a huge number. That’s more than just me. Half of my fan base comes from a love triangle.' And I knew right then it was a story that needed to be told.

"As an artist, I just want to put out songs that my fans can relate to," RaeLynn continues. "You never lose by sharing your heart and being vulnerable with your fans."

WildHorse is currently scheduled to be released on March 24. RaeLynn is now on the road, serving as the opening act on Blake Shelton's Doin' It to Country Songs Tour; a list of all of their upcoming shows is available on RaeLynn's website, and "Love Triangle" is available for download on iTunes.
