Phil Vassar Gets Festive With ‘Noel’
“I’ve always dreamed of making a Christmas record,” Phil Vassar confesses. “From the time I was a boy — listening to Nat King Cole, Andy Williams, Bing Crosby and all the classic singers — I’ve wanted to do this.”
The singer-songwriter turned that dream into reality with ‘Noel,’ his first holiday collection. The 10-song project features five original tunes, as well as five classic covers, including his renditions of the holiday standards ‘What Child Is This,’ ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas’ and ‘Oh Come All Ye Faithful,’ which he combines with ‘Angels We Have Heard on High.’
Phil, who has written huge hits for Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina and Alan Jackson in addition to his own hits, adds his own creative flair to the project, penning the jazzy ‘Doesn’t Feel Like Christmas Without You’ and the rockin’ ‘I Saved Christmas.’ Texas swing legend Ray Benson also makes an appearance on ‘Big Ole Texas Christmas.’
“I love the way Christmas makes you feel,” says Phil. “How it makes you slow down and re-evaluate your life. It makes you think about years past and look ahead toward things to come. But for me it’s the music that makes it all come alive.”
‘Noel’ will be available at Phil’s official website, as well as all digital retailers, beginning Nov. 22. ‘What Child Is This’ is now offered as a free download courtesy of People.com and iTunes. Click here to get it.
