To mark the birthday of the legendary Johnny Cash, Sony Music is inviting fans to help unlock a previously unreleased song from the Man in Black.

Cash would have turned 82 today (Feb. 26). He passed away in 2003, leaving a vast legacy of music that has almost never been equaled.

To celebrate that legacy, Sony is preparing to release a new album, 'Out Among the Stars,' on March 25. Recorded with legendary producer Billy Sherrill in the early '80s, when Cash was signed to Columbia, the album went unreleased. The tapes were later discovered by Cash's son, John Carter Cash, along with the archivists at Legacy Recordings. The upcoming set will mark their first public release.

Fans can help celebrate Cash's birthday by visiting his official website, where they can create a star in the digital sky containing a birthday wish for Cash. Simply connect your Facebook account or email address, then submit your birthday wish via Facebook or Twitter, and your wish will be turned into a star. Each birthday wish unlocks the title track from the forthcoming album.

‘Out Among the Stars’ also includes a duet with Waylon Jennings, and two with Cash’s wife, June Carter Cash.

It is currently available for pre-order at Amazon.
