Nicole Kidman Emmy Dress Was Hubby’s Choice

Keith Urban shined with his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, at the Emmys last night (Sept. 24) in Los Angeles. The singer-songwriter, who was there to support Nicole for her nomination in the Outstanding Leading Actress in a Miniseries or Movie category, enjoyed his first time at the ceremony, even helping his lovely wife pick her outfit for the evening.

"I did, actually," Keith told "Entertainment Tonight" of Mrs. Urban's Antonio Berardi sequin dress.

"I had two dresses and he chose this one," Nicole confirmed.

"You should've seen the other one. It was a tough choice," the new "American Idol" judge added.

While the stunning actress didn't win for her role in "Hemingway & Gellhorn," she and Keith enjoyed the company of her co-star Clive Owen, as well as that of Alec Baldwin during the show. Additionally, the movie star, who is headed to France to film "Grace of Monaco," promised Ryan Seacrest she'd spent a lot of time backstage at "American Idol" next year. (Watch below.)

"I'm very glad you're there," Keith told the competition show's host. "I'm glad Randy [Jackson] is there. It's a good comfort level!"

As for what he thinks of the show, the Aussie was all smiles talking to "Extra" host Mario Lopez. "We are two days in, and I'm loving it!" he beamed. "I did a season in Australia on 'The Voice,' and I really loved, but I've been on the other side too. I did several different singing competition shows for TV when I was very, very young. I've been on both sides so hopefully I'll be able to bring a little bit of empathy."

Season 12 of "American Idol" will debut in January 2013.
