Country fans, get ready to hear more from Nelly -- and no, it's not another collaboration with Florida Georgia Line (that we know of). The rapper is working on a new EP, and surprise ... it's country!

Nelly's voyage into country music doesn't exactly come as a huge surprise: He's no stranger to the genre, having worked with Tim McGraw on "Over and Over" and, of course, on the smash hit "Cruise" with FGL. (Also, for those who enjoy foreshadowing, the rapper's debut album was titled Country Grammar.)

The "Shake Ya Tailfeather" hitmaker hasn't released many details about his forthcoming country project, but his manager J. Erving tells Billboard, "He's a free agent on the label side now and is working on a country-based Heartland EP, which should be really interesting.

"He may be one of the first hip-hop artists to jump into that space in an authentic way with Florida Georgia Line and Tim McGraw," Erving adds, "so we think he has an opportunity to grow that base even more."

Country crossovers are becoming more and more popular these days. Most recently, Taylor Swift successfully switched from country to pop; rocker Steven Tyler is prepping a country recordKelly Clarkson is balancing success in both the country and pop genres; and Christina Aguilera has joined the Nashville cast in a recurring role.

There's no word on when Nelly's country album will be released, but for now, fans can get their fill by spinning his country collaborations thus far.
