'Music City Roots' is both a star-studded throwback to live radio performances and a musical treat for a worldwide audience. A radio show presented live at the Loveless Cafe Barn, one of the Nashville area's most exciting new venues, the weekly series showcases country, folk, bluegrass and Americana acts, presenting a blend of new and established artists.

To celebrate the success of the eclectic series, this week Compass Records releases 'Roots Moments: Special Live Cuts From Season One,' 11 of the most memorable performances from the highly-regarded first season of the weekly broadcast.

'Roots Moments' features live cuts from, among others, Jim Lauderdale, Nanci Griffith, Charlie Louvin and Mike Farris and the McCrary Sisters. There's also a Loveless Jam which closes each show, and for the album, a rafter-raising version of 'Up on Cripple Creek' featuring Lauderdale, Farris and Sam Bush is included.

"The tremendous artists who grace our stage week after week are a gift to lovers of musical authenticity and integrity the world over, and we're proud to release what we hope to be the first of many such collections of excellent and diverse artistry," says MCR co-founder John Walker. "We feel like we're part of a very important movement in roots and Americana music and the music business in general. We hope this CD makes some history of its own."

The album package features one-of-a-kind photos captured during the live shows and liner notes penned by the show's Senior Producer (and 'Interview Guy') Craig Havighurst, who is featured each week during the show chatting with the guests about their music.

A portion of the proceeds from the album sales will be donated to Music City Roots promotional partners the Nature Conservancy.

'Music City Roots' is broadcast live each week on WSM 650 AM. 'Roots Moments' is available in stores and online now.
