It's not unusual for the early part of the year to be pretty light on new music, but January 2014 is actually going to bring new country releases from quite a few artists.

Sugarland singer Jennifer Nettles will release her solo album, 'That Girl,' on Jan. 14. The album pairs her with an all-star cast of collaborators for a fresh approach.

Rosanne Cash also turned to friends to round out her new album, 'The River & the Thread,' which is also set for Jan. 14. The disc features appearances from Rodney Crowell, Cory Chisel, Kris Kristofferson, Allison Moorer, Amy Helm, John Prine,  the Civil Wars‘ John Paul White and Gabe Witcher from the Punch Brothers.

Singer-songwriter Jon Pardi will also release his debut solo album, 'Write You a Song,' on Jan. 14. The album has already spawned two singles, 'Missin' You Crazy' and 'Up All Night.'

Asleep at the Wheel singer Ray Benson will release a new solo album, 'A Little Place,' on Jan. 21, which is the same day Indigo Girls singer-guitarist Amy Ray is set to drop her first country album, 'Goodnight Tender.'

Ronnie Milsap will release his latest, 'Summer Number Seventeen,' on Jan. 28. The album consists primarily of covers of songs that were important to the singer in his musical formative years, including ‘Georgia on My Mind’ and ‘Tears on My Pillow.’

Bluegrass queen Rhonda Vincent will solo drop her newest studio offering on Jan. 28. 'Only Me' combines her influences from multiple genres, with one six-track disc of country songs, and one of bluegrass.
